Current project
DFG-Project: "Normal#Crazy - Contemporary History of an Eroding Difference"
SP 1 - „Das besorgte Selbst – Prävention psychischer Störungen in der BRD und DDR 1949-2000“ ("The Concerned Self - Prevention of Mental Disorders in the FRG and GDR, 1949-2000").
The current research project inquires into the historical roots of prevention in the second half of the 20th century in the context of the professionalization of social work, psychology, health education and psychiatry and, in particular, into the genesis of a "worried self". In particular, the topics of alcohol and drug use and mood disorders are examined.
Research focus
- History of psychiatry and psychotropic drugs in East and West Germany
- History of the prevention of mental disorders
- History of psychology and social work in the context of psychological deviance
