Vita Prof. Dr. Johanna Bleker

Johanna Bleker studied medicine in Zurich and Münster, received her doctorate in 1966 and her medical license in 1968. She then worked at the Institute for the History of Medicine Münster, where she habilitated in 1978 with a thesis on the Natural History School (1825-1845).

She has been a professor at the Berlin Institute for the History of Medicine since 1978 and was its executive director from 2001 to 2004. She retired in 2004.

Other activities

From 2002 to 2008 managing editor of the journal "Medizinhistorisches Journal".
Co-editor of the "Abhandlungen zur Geschichte der Medizin und der Naturwissenschaften" (Treatises on the History of Medicine and the Natural Sciences)
